We offer: Quality B&B accommodation in popular city centre location

December 16, 2011 Posted in: Blog

Leafing through our guest book two things become clear: our guests appreciate the high standard of accommodation we offer at competitive rates – and they love The Walton’s city centre location.

We are lucky to have some of the best eateries and pubs of Edinburgh just around the corner from the guesthouse here in the New Town. For recommendations please speak to reception or email reservations, we’re always happy to book a table for you.

In addition, you’re only a short distance away from other interesting landmarks of the city centre. From where we are here on Dundas Street you walk about 10 minutes to Princes Street and the National Galleries of Scotland. After another 5 minutes walk you will find yourself on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh’s historic Old Town.

If you prefer to take the bus to get around you’re able to board two local buses (Lothian Buses Nos. 23 & 27) right outside our door. They cross both Princes Street (with its High Street stores and its Christmas Market stalls) and the Royal Mile, and they will also take you past the National Library of Scotland, the National Museum and past the Meadows with its neighbouring university buildings.

We do recommend to make your way back to the guesthouse on foot at least once during your stay: On a cold and clear afternoon like today, the walk from Princes Street down to the guesthouse offers wonderful views of Edinburgh’s New Town at dusk. The sky is a mixture of blue and misty red, and its fading light creates an almost otherworldly atmosphere above the Georgian roofs, which characterise this lovely part of the city.
