Our Special Features: The Family Room

May 6, 2012 Posted in: Blog

In the ‘Our Special Features’ series we aim to introduce you to all reasons big and small why The Walton is a unique place to stay in Edinburgh.

This week we put the spotlight on one of our best-liked rooms here at the guest house. The family room is a rare thing, and much appreciated by travelling families and other groups of up to five people.

Our family room is in many ways more a suite than simply a room. It comprises two adjoining rooms. The larger master bedroom has one very comfortable double bed and one single bed. Amenities include a large flat-screen TV with Freeview channels and free Wifi. It also features a desk with a stool, two tub chairs and of course, a hospitality tray with a range of delicious coffees, teas and shortbread. Its big window looking out over the back of the guest house turns the room into a bright and airy space.

The second, smaller bedroom has one set of bunk beds. Children love them! The bunks are made from wood, very sturdy and are well lit by a couple of bedside lamps.

The ensuite bathroom is adjacent to the larger of the two spaces. Once again, a large window is the centrepiece of the room. The wooden shutters, the walk-in shower and the spacious feel of this bathroom add to the lovely atmosphere of this room as a home away from home for the family.

The family room, like all guest rooms at The Walton, has been refurbished only last year. The local interior designers IDP did a fantastic job – both The Walton’s staff and our guests are delighted to work and stay in the contemporary and comfortable space they envisioned and created. A huge ‘Thank you’ to IDP!

If you are a family staying with an infant or toddler at the guest house please ask to reserve our travel cot if required. We can also offer you a highchair for your breakfast table in the mornings!
