Favourite spots in Edinburgh: Charlotte Square

August 18, 2011 Posted in: Blog

From 13-29th August Charlotte Square hosts one of Edinburgh’s most popular festivals: The Edinburgh International Book Festival.

797 writers from all over the world will be taking part in this year’s event. Among them are contemporary Scottish writers like A L Kennedy, James Robertson and Alexander McCall-Smith. Are you familiar with the latter’s Scotland Street novels? They are set in Edinburgh and inspired by the city’s culture – if you’re interested to learn more, take a look at this walking tour McCall-Smith took through Edinburgh’s New Town for the Guardian Online newspaper.

The concept of place is certainly a focus of this year’s event: the Book Festival commissioned 50 authors to write on the idea of ‘Elsewhere’…to read pieces by Ali Smith, Yiyun Li and many others, please visit the Edinburgh International Book Festival’sofficial website.

If however you’re planning to visit an event at the Book Festival in Charlotte Square and are still in need of accommodation nearby, please contact us or book directly on this website: A few rooms are still available!
