Introducing our neighbours: The Cumberland Bar

September 2, 2011 Posted in: Blog

We like to think that our little guest house here on Dundas Street is the perfect base for a couple of nights in beautiful Edinburgh. As you can see from browsing this website we offer high quality accommodation and an exceptional breakfast to our guests. An additional reason our guests usually enjoy a lovely time with us is our location. We are in the heart of the New Town, right in the city centre – a 10-minute walk away from Princes Street.

However, today I would like to dedicate this post to a gem of a pub which is just around the corner from The Walton – you don’t even have to go as far as Princes Street to experience a typical Edinburgh pub! The Cumberland Bar is a contemporary pub with traditional features and great service. An outstanding selection of whiskies, beers and wines can be enjoyed at a table tucked away in one of the pub’s many nooks and crannies – or alternatively, in the beer garden outside! The bar also offers a wide variety of exceptional pub food (ranging from Toasted Sandwiches to Haggis, Neeps and Tatties), some of which is homemade – try the Chicken Curry with Rice!

Often our guests arrive around lunch, or dinner time. Staff at reception is always happy to recommend places to eat, and the Cumberland Bar is the first choice for those who are looking for excellent food and a pint nearby!
