International Storytelling festival 2012

September 18, 2012 Posted in: Blog

Storytelling has always been an important part of history and especially the Scottisch culture has an ancient storytelling tradition. If you are in for something educational as well as interesting and unique, the International Storytelling festival might be an interesting event for you …

The 2012 Scottish International Storytelling Festival celebrates the art and humanity of folktales across Europe, tracing the way in which the publication of the Brothers Grimm Tales 200 years ago sparked a revival of interest in nations and regions across the continent and influenced every artform. Today storytelling itself is once again flourishing across Europe and the festival offers the opportunity to hear some of the best works, meet storytellers from Scottish and European traditions, participate in workshops and international networking, and o travel on to regions of Scotland where traditional arts continue to thrive. What better place than Edinburgh to listen to old Folktales?

During the festival there are numerous, some free, some not, some for kids, all ages or just adults. The festival runs from the 19th of October till the 28th of October, so it would also be the ideal way of getting in the mood for Halloween! Click here for the program and more information. Let the stories speak to your imagination!
