Can’t wait for spring to begin? Why not start planning an early spring break to distract yourself from the cold and wintry weather we’re experiencing just now?
Edinburgh is always a good place to visit – and it is the perfect destination for a city break in spring. Watch and wonder how spring transforms the Scottish capital and spend a long weekend, or maybe even a week of your holidays exploring one of the most popular cities in the country.
So what are the things that make Edinburgh special in March?
The Royal Botanic Gardens, located in walking distance of The Walton, are a lovely place to while away your day. You can walk around and observe how nature is waking up to the first few rays of spring sunshine. Visit the Gardens’ website to find out about everything visitors get to see in March.
The Water of Leith is a river that meanders through Edinburgh. Take a walk along its walkway and discover a very green and quiet side of Edinburgh – a fascinating thing to do, especially at the beginning of spring. Our guest house is a five minute walk away from the Water (at Canonmills). Learn more about the river’s wildlife and local history by clicking here – the Conservation Trust’s site will help you with planning your walk.
We recommend you visit the Playhouse on one of the evenings during your stay. It offers the perfect theatre entertainment throughout the year. In March, among the highlights are performances of the Russian State Ballet and Sarah Millican. Click here for more information on its March shows.
Tickets also on offer for March are currently available for booking through the Edinburgh Zoo’s website. Have you been to see the Giant Panda’s yet? They are currently one of the ‘must-see’ attractions of the city.
